Iboga Records

public - created 05/11/05
"Started in 1998 Iboga records have consistently reshaped the sound of progressive psychedelic trance the world over. With the highest standards of quality Iboga releases are a must have for any fan of this style of music. This tribe is to talk about artists, releases, and local events for the Iboga crew. Keep it up Iboga! We love your music.

The story of Iboga Records began in the middle of the nineties when an organisation called rotundum arranged several events in the period 94-97. Dj Amon, Dj Banel and Dj Emok was part of the 25 people rotundum group, including the Photon light guys, Dj Jean Borelli, and the guys Martin and Rene who later formed Beat Bizarre . After some years of event organising & dj?ing, the idea of a Copenhagen record label for the new Scandinavian progressive trance sounds was taking shape.

they started a studio together (also including Jeppe, who formed Phony Orphants with Emok) and in 1998 we compiled the first cd (Tabernanthe) with new and fresh Scandinavian acts. It was in these days that artists like Beat Bizarre, Phony Orphants, Oryx , Reefer Decree and Lurifax, made the first groundbreaking releases on the Iboga label, which was fast growing and build a strong reputation in a short period of time. In the middle of the success Banel was working hard both on managing the label, DJ?ing and also to finish he's cooking education while Amon left the label. Emok was busy in the studio making lots of new music and got out playing sets around the globe big time. We had Dj Alhad and Dj Sommer working for Iboga for some time, but there were rough times ahead and they left the label for different reasons. Alhad went to Brazil where he now lives. Sommer has plans of opening a label for chillout and downbeat music under the name ?Katarsis Lab?.

The last couple of years have been hard, as they have been struggling with pirate copying, the internet has spread illegal music big time and many in the music business gave up and still do in these times. But they have had so many amazing experiences, fun times and unforgettable memories doing this label. It has simply become such a big part of our lives that they intend to keep developing Iboga Records, which means that Banel & Emok can assure that Iboga Records will be among those who will make it through the storm and still for many years to come deliver those beautiful sounds that have been the trademark of Iboga Records."

A meeting place for Members, DJ's, Dancers, Artists, Dreamers, Reviewers, and Fans of Iboga Records and its artists.
